As parents, I’m sure relate kayo that when we heard about the virus, the first thing that we thought about is the safety of our families.

How can we protect them? How can we stay clean? Paano hindi madadala ang virus sa bahay?

And it’s been almost four months since the quarantine period started. And isa kami sa madaming families na nag-adjust sa new normal na tinatawag.

There are many changes that we applied in our family, our normal routine suddenly changed. I became extra OA when it comes to cleanliness in our home.

Gusto ko i-share sa inyo ang mga ginagawa namin as family ngayon to keep our home sanitized and clean:

  • DIY Disinfectant – mas tipid at practical talaga gumagawa ng sariling disinfectant. water and bleach combination ito mga mommies. We are using this to clean the floor, door knobs, table top and etc. Mas matipid ito kesa alcohol ang gamitin palagi na pang disinfect sa paligid.
  • Cleaning of shoes and clothes (as soon as possible) – we don’t combine our clothes that we’ve used when going outside, example nag grocery si Mister, diretso na iyon sa labahan even ang shoes nya, we sanitize it, at bawal na bawal mag pasok ng shoes or slippers sa loob ng bahay.
  • Water and baking soda solution for veggies – aside sa no chemical soap, gumagamit din kami ng baking soda and water solution na DIY din for cleaning vegetables and fruits, para sure na malinis ang kinakain natin lalo if galing sa wet market or groceries ang fresh goods.
  • Regular home cleaning – honest confession, hindi ako mahilig mag mop ng sahig noon, pero ngayon automatic yan na magsasanitize ng bahay – mopping of floor, wiping door knobs, shower knobs and kitchen area cleaning. We are also using UV para sa cash, keys, cellphone, for added protection lang.
  • Hand washing – wala pa rin tatalo sa hand washing kahit mga tiga DOH at WHO ito palagi ang sinasabi, to regularly wash our hands, kaya as parents to make it a habit kay Zee na palagi mag-hugas ng kamay, we made him a chart that serves as his reminder. Kahit hand written note mga mommies, basta may reminder sa kanila, better din na drawing para sa mga smaller kids.

My husband and I also enjoy drinking turmeric tea before bed time to boost our immune system. The pandemic made us count our blessings big and small everyday, and the past few days made me also thankful that we have a source of clean and potable water, Mas narealize ko kung gaano ka-importante ang tubig sa buhay natin. I can’t imagine paano namin gagawin ang cleaning routine kung walang malinis na tubig. Paano maliligo? Maghuhugas ng kamay? Mag-sasanitize ng paligid… Totoo ngang water is life!

Aside from the above tips and routine that we are doing, we believe that the greatest protection we have is God. Praying together as family is very important especially this season.

Kayo mga mommies, baka may additional tips pa kayo? I would love to hear from you mga ka-tipid mommies.

Dito sa amin, thankful ako na since nung nag-start ang quarantine, hindi kami nawalan ng tubig. Hindi ko ma-imagine paano makaka-iwas sa virus kung walang tubig pang-hugas ng kamay man lang.
