She is tired, stressed, always have panic attack, rushing things and just exhausted. Sounds familiar? Sounds me sometimes.

Juggling two roles is not easy, running a business while raising a child is one of the toughest job description on earth.

Thank God for reminding me to look at the characteristics of my “Mompreneur Peg”, the Proverbs 31 Woman.

Who is she as a mompreneur, here are her characteristics that I’ve discovered and I want to imitate from her:

1. She wakes up early – 

She gets up while it is still night;
    she provides food for her family
    and portions for her female servants. Proverbs 31: 15

It may sound so easy for morning persons, but as a mom with a toddler sleeping until 8:00 in the morning is a feast.

But I’ve noticed that every time I wake up earlier than my normal routine, I was able to have a quiet time with God (really quiet, without a screaming toddler on the background, or husband talking about the latest News on TV) I can cook breakfast peacefully (without a toddler hugging my legs while in the kitchen) I can do a little stretching, plan my priority tasks for the day and have some alone time even for a while.

2. She is ready for a tough job 

 She dresses herself with strength and makes her arms strong. Proverbs 31:17

It is tiring – physically and mentally to be a mompreneur. Proverbs 31 mompreneur modeled us to be ready for a tough calling. We need extra energy to be a mompreneur, I heard many successful entrepreneurs are the physically active ones. That’s one of my goals, to start a regular exercise program again (it can be a youtube zumba exercise or a work-out plan while playing with kids)

3. Her business becomes a channel of blessings

She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. Proverbs 31:20

In building righteous wealth, our businesses should be socially responsible enterprises, we need to ask God’s wisdom on what cause or need our business will support. We should be reminded that our goal for blessing is not to accumulate wealth alone but to be a channel of blessings.

4. She works excellently

She makes linen garments and sells them; she delivers sashes to the merchant. Proverbs 31:24

She is hands-on in her business, Proverbs 31 mompreneur is a businesswoman who is excellent in her craft and makes sure her team is doin’ pretty well, she is working for God not for men.

5. She is a woman of integrity

Strength and dignity are her clothing, and
she laughs at the time to come. Proverbs 31: 25

She is a woman of dignity by being a woman of integrity, she works with the truth, she wants to leave a legacy of good name to her family. In business, it is easier to compromise but the ending is always painful. We should always walk in the light even we are standing alone  – pay taxes, secure government permits, fair trade and right bargaining.

6. She speaks with wisdom

She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. Proverbs 31:26

She is a woman of wisdom, being a Proverbs 31 mompreneur means also sharing our knowledge to other people. Imparting to others what we know.. our words should be filled with kindness and love.

7. She knows her priorites

She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Proverbs 31:27

Proverbs 31 mompreneur know that her first calling is being a mother and a wife.
She is also use her time wisely by being productive and fruitful.

8. Her family appreciates her

Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her Proverbs 31:28

We know we are pursuing something right when our family appreciates it and even support us on our decision. When there are conflicts we should always be ready to step back and look if we are still climbing the right mountain.

9. She fears God

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Proverbs 31:30

Being a Proverbs 31 mompreneur is being fearless but if she has one fear in life, that’s a holy fear from God. She wants to live pleasing her Savior more than earning the applause of man. This reminds us that inner beauty is much more important than our outward appearance.

After checking the qualities of being a Proverbs 31 mompreneur, I was inspired that this special ministry and calling that we have is a tough yet worthy journey as long as God is at the center of our life and our businesses. Proverbs 31 mompreneur may sound perfect, but as human that makes mistake everyday, we just have to stand up everytime we fall, forgive ourselves, try again and ask for His grace everyday.
