#GRABMisiskolar : Wais sa Pamilya, Wais sa Pera

In a normal Filipino Family set-up, it is usually the wife that manages and handles the family’s income. That’s why it is important that the wife is knowledgable about managing money kundi baka masayang ang pinagpaguran ni Mister.

Nakakatuwa ang initiative ng Grab for the wives of their drivers.

In 2016, Grab launched Grab Wives Academy and reached 100 Grab driver’s wives. And they’ve found out that 9 out of 10 housewives are ill-equipped in managing the money remitted by their husbands, the Grab drivers.

If the wives are not given the necessary and opportunities skills to manage and grow their husband’s income, the endless cycle of poor money management within the Filipino family will continue – ito talaga nakakalungkot kapag di maayos ang money management mommies di ba?

In recognition of the importance of the role of wives in achieving success for the community, Grab Misiskolar was born.

What is Grab Misiskolar?

It is an initiative with the goal of empowering and educating the driver’s wives to be wiser about handling their husband’s hard-earned income and enabling them to start their own mini-gosyo.

Wow di ba mommies? I’m sure the program is very helpful for the wives of the drivers. Parang all of us, housewives, need this kind of program, ‘di ba?

Starting up a business |

Last August 13, in Mega Tent Libis, Misiskolars from Metro Manila became part of a full-day entrepreneurial program which included:

  • finance management
  • family planning talks
  • livelihood workshops such as no-bake cake making, perfume-making, direct selling, starting up your own business and getting the needed start-up capital.

As an extension of the campaign and with the help of partners – Unionbank, Lendr, Avon, Sunlife, Angat Pilipinas and Generika Drugstore, GRAB aims to give the wives the chance to start earning by putting up a business.

The program aims to reach out to more wives and inspire them to be more ma-diskarte about family finances – so they can become “wais sa pamilya and wais sa pera”

The Grab Misiskolar program will also be launched in Cebu and they’re targeting 400 wives. Woow!

This advocacy is very close to my heart. That’s one of the reasons why I started this blog and the “Nanay on a Budget Workshop”, because I can relate to how tough and challenging it is to budget the family’s income.
